Craftsmanship
Most lighting is manufactured. Ours is made — by more than thirty makers in one atelier in Pakistan, working a craft the family has carried for three generations. This page is what “handmade” actually means when we say it.
A workshop, not a factory
There is no production line here. There are benches — turning, carving, joinery, finishing, assembly — and there are hands that have spent years earning their station. A piece moves from bench to bench the way it has since our grandfathers’ time: when it is ready, and not before. Thirty-two makers work under this roof, from apprentices learning the first cuts to masters whose work has travelled to Spain, the United Kingdom and Canada.
The disciplines
Joinery — the family signature
Long before lamps, this family’s name was made joining many woods into one: boards matched by grain, glued and pressed until the seams close, jointed by hand, and only then shaped. Different timbers have different tempers; making them behave as a single body for a lifetime is the hardest discipline in the workshop — and the one we are proudest of. We don’t hide our joints. We sign them.
Turning
The lathe is where our rounded silhouettes are born, under the hands of a master turner. A curve drawn on a lathe cannot be corrected later — it is right in the moment, or it becomes firewood. That is why turning takes a lifetime to learn and seconds to recognise.
Carving
Where a form asks for relief, texture or detail, it is cut by blade and eye — no templates, no CNC shortcuts. The small irregularities of a carved surface are exactly what machine work cannot fake.
Finishing
Surfaces are taken through finer and finer grits until the edges disappear, then finished by hand — rubbed in, coat after patient coat, until the grain reads as clearly under lamplight as under the sun.
From timber to first light
Every piece walks the same road. The board is chosen by grain and weight in the hand, then aged until its moisture settles and it stops moving — the slow, invisible stage that decides everything after it. Our premium pieces are then steam-conditioned: the steam relaxes the fibres and evens the tone, leaving a calmer, more stable wood for the bench.
Then the making — joined, turned or carved into form; refined until the surface asks to be touched; finished by hand; and finally wired, fitted and lit on the bench. No piece ships before its first evening glows in the workshop.

Beyond lamps
Light is our first language, but not our only one. The atelier also takes on custom commissions in our craft, makes decorative objects in solid wood, and builds the wooden presentation packaging that our finer pieces travel in. If it can be made honestly in wood, and made to last, it belongs here — write to us about a commission.
